Family Community Service
The Eberwhite PTO seeks to strengthen and enrich our community in a variety of ways, one of which is developing ideas for families to engage in community service together. Some of these opportunities will be at Eberwhite during the year with our entire school community, such as Earth Day events and Family Service Days (all TBD).
Particularly now during the COVID pandemic, we will also on an ongoing basis share carefully crafted and thoughtful ideas for you to engage in community service at home with your family. Below, are just a few ideas that kids will love, along with partner organizations who are open to receiving projects from Eberwhite families:
FOR THE ELDERLY
Create winter-themed decorations for a nursing home such as a snow painting or one of these 35 winter crafts
Design cards or crafts for an upcoming holiday like Thanksgiving crafts or just to say ‘Hi’
Make no-sew fleece blankets
Create suncatchers with clear glue or tissue paper stained glass designs
Fold origami flowers or animals to brighten residents’ rooms

FOR MENTAL HEALTH
Help decrease stress and Chalk Your Walk at home with positive messages or pictures.

FOR ANIMALS
Make one of the Requested crafts (Easter egg cat toys, rice warmers, cork toys, dog bandanas and more) for the Humane Society of Huron Valley
Paws with a Cause requested these crafts: PVC treat-dispensing toy, No-sew sock toys and No-sew fleece stuffed toy and a snuffle mat

FOR ESSENTIAL WORKERS
Write thank you notes and cards (for anyone on the frontline: servicemen/women, bus drivers, grocery store, postal workers, food supply workers, nursing home employees)
Create lawn signage showing support
